  Cranston is an upmarket delicatessens. Always has a large range of quality foods and a great place to pick up tasty bits and pieces. All produce is of great quality with a lot of local produce, but priced accordingly.
  The café upstairs is clean, tidy and usually pretty busy. It doesn't have a huge range and tends to serve "meals" rather than snacks. Having said that the last time I went I asked if I could just have a sandwich, the waiter said they weren't doing sandwiches at lunchtime but had the kitchen make me a sausage bap anyway.

  Normally Cranston's is superb but just lately I have been disappointed by their salads. I know it's winter but I used to buy a salad there every week - however sometimes they don't look that fresh and the beans in the bean salad are sickly sweet. Occasionally there aren't any eggs and today a lot of the salads had a kind of awful neglected look to them like they had been there for a few day. In the end I bought a chicken salad sandwich which was tasteless - I think next time it'll be Booths or M&S.
  The hot counter is always excellent and well cared for - how about a bit more attention to the salad bar

  Really tasty food with great staff and clean in the cafe however ridiculously expensive. Downstairs the hot counter is tasty with a reasonable price. Love the fact the food is locally sourced so food miles are reduced and the money spent is kept in the local economy

  Fantastic locally sourced food offered and the cafe is excellent. They offer really good sandwiches and take-away hot food. So I often visit here when visiting the lakes.
